Dear club member

We have some exciting news to share ........

Further to last month's special general meeting, we have now completed the transfer of the Portway RDC and the club has entered into a 30-year lease with Bristol City Council.

This means that our club now has a long-term and secure home which will allow us to plan with confidence for the future and make a positive impact for our community.

We know the site needs significant investment and we will work hard to make this happen. The immediate focus will be on improving security at the site and carrying out emergency repairs and maintenance. By the start of next season, you should see a significant improvement in the facilities available to us.

Club members of all ages will have a part to play in the development of the site. Over the coming months, we will work with all members to ensure that everyone has a chance to engage in and contribute to this process.

As explained at the special general meeting, the gym at the site will remain open and we would very much encourage you to start using it. You can find out more about the gym on our new website which will be going live soon! More to come on this.

Please watch out for the publicity about the transfer on social media.

Finally, we need to recognise how far the club has come since it lost its home in Filton over 20 years ago and was close to extinction. We need to recognise the exceptional contribution of Chris Groves, Richard Kolanko, Andy Nelson, Ray Merchant and others who have guided the club over this period.

We should also recognise the work that has gone into the project which has been many years in the making. A huge thank you to the project team, especially Charles Van Der Lande who has led the charge, Chris Groves for his continued and valued input, Simon Hughes, Adrian Adams, Cathy Dodsworth and Andrew McKelvey as well as much support from many others.

It is now up to the next generation to build on their work and ensure that the club fulfils its potential in our new home.

Thank You.
