Kingswood run out winners!

Slow start but great second half
We made a first time visit to Kingswood RFC and played a friendly fixture in good sportsmanship.
We made a slow start in the first half. We had all the pieces of a good game but did not quite get it together with a few too many dropped passes and knock ons and not enough supporting running. This led to a 4-0 deficient at half time.
The boys took on board the half time talk and came out as a far more cohesive unit with strong rucking and far better support. This led to an evenly balanced and very competitive second half but without any further tries. The final score was 4-0.
There were particularly strong performances from Billy and Ed on the field and Jeoff with the hotdogs.
The only thing I would add to Chris's report is ... smiles.
As Chris pointed out our second half performance was a step up from the first half: with a stronger commitment to the break down, more consistent tackling, better passing and a team-wide desire to score.
There wasn't a try but there were huge smiles from all of the boys' come the final whistle - self-recognition for a job well done and a game played to the max.
It was a great game to watch and the Kingswood coaches and parents were very complimentary about the spirit in which our chaps played.
Kingswood were excellent hosts and I hope we have an opportunity for a return fixture.
Thanks to all the players for their focus and dedication this morning and to their chauffeurs for their vocal support.
