St Brendan's Old Boys R.F.C. LTD SBOB
| The Chairman, Chris Groves has been working tirelessly to guarantee the continued success of the club by organising its expansion to over 250 players in 2008 with a waiting list in some ages. The success of the club can only be measured by the dedication of the coaches who give up their free time on Sundays mornings and week day evenings to coach the players, from minis to the First XV, while ensuring all players enjoy their time in the field. It takes a lot of organising in the backroom to run a club which could not be done without the support of the officers and coaches who have turned St Brendan's into one of the successes in Mini and Junior rugby coaching. St Brendan's is one of the first clubs to support and organise a Minis and Junior Trophy Tournament, known as the Peter Pullin Trophy which is held every year.
We welcome all to join St Brendan's Old Boys RFC, known affectionately as the Saints, a club with a great tradition in rugby, founded in 1929, boasting of England and Bristol caps among previous members, and celebrate with us our 80th anniversary in 2009.
We look forward to seeing you at our home the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex |

Mini and Junior Rugby
St Brendan's offers children from the first school year (aged 6) the opportunity to learn rugby and join a team of dedicated coaches in all age groups. It is not until the children reach the age of school year 4 they learn the art of contact. In those first few years, it is called tag rugby as the children wear a tag belt and to stop a player you just pull the tag. During these formative years they learn how to pass the ball, work as a team, respect the coaches, players and referees. Contact Tony Rigg for Junior Rugby.
Experience has shown when they reach year 4 they can not wait to start to play real rugby, although in a limited form. As years go by they become experienced players of rugby and have learnt the most important point, to work together as a team unit supporting each other.
The mini and junior teams train on Sunday mornings from 11am to 12.30 pm . The under 14 to 16s often do extra training on Wednesday evening under flood lights. Matches in the junior age groups are on Sunday mornings see the fixture list.
The new season begins on the first Sunday in September.
