A trip to the seaside this morning was just what the Doctor ordered.
A match played in glorious sunshine against an unbeaten Clevedon
We were met by a massively improved Clevedon side who had clearly been busy in the transfer market.
Pressure from the off saw us pinned in our own half for much of the 1st quarter. Back foot rugby ensured that our defensive skills were put to the test. The test was passed! Tackles were flying in from all quarters and we began to retain and then move the ball. Our stubbornness paid off and, largely against the run of play, we began to dominate in midfield, but still going into the break 8-5 behind. .
The second half saw the pressure continue from the home side. Our response was to revert to our traditional style of all action passing rugby. The game came alive for us at this point . Quick thinking and superb line speed meant that we started to dominate both with and without the ball. Clevedon began to look vulnerable especially when confronted with our direct runners. Pace and determination won the day for us once again with great Tries from Archie, Jonathan, Tao and Jack F and Harry Y. The score at the whistle was 29-20.
A great team performance across the board against a good side. The fixture list tells us that even tougher test lie ahead.
Thanks to Clevedon for hosting us. Chips, ham and egg... can't go wrong!
