Clifton Fest/Cleve (A)
St Brendan's RFC
Sun 24 Sep 10:30 - Festival Full time

What a start to the season.

Wins at the Gloucester Cup match and impressive Festival play

Hot of the press from the Clifton Festival...
15 boys played against tough opposition in this early season festival. We played against Keynsham (L) , Chippenham (L), Old Bristolians (D) Avonmouth (W) and then played against Thornbury in a 4th placed waterfall and lost 2-0
They all put in a huge tackling effort, we rucked well but we still need to keep moving forward, passing and retaining the ball in contact. The boys did what we asked of them and kept playing to the end in difficult circumstances.
Most teams had their strongest teams available and so we should put these results in context.
Myself and Jeoff were very proud and so should the parents be.
Well done to Morgan, Ed and Max for putting in strong debut performances for the U12.

If I was to pick a player of the day and it is difficult it would be Jack Flynn. Strong tackle , maul and gave us plenty of go forward!

Well done to all the boys at Clifton and thank you to the parents for their support today.

and more from the Gloucester Cup...

A great team efforts yesterday from the boys.

Cleve had plenty of posession but struggled with our line speed and rarely got out of their own half, even though they looked good with the ball in hand. In possession we had much more attacking flair and Cleve struggled with our running lines and pace. Great to see the whole team pass! We played with good width, but we need to commit more players to the ruck otherwise we will come unstuck against stronger opposition…

Perfect day for running rugby and the boys stepped up well. Cleve 0 - St Brendan’s 5.
